RANBURY’S FORENSIC ANALYSES EXPERTISE MITIGATES CLAIMS EXPOSURE ON $100M ROADS PROJECT

Ranbury used forensic planning analyses and claims defence expertise to mitigate delays to a $100M Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) project in North Queensland.

Ranbury was engaged by TMR to provide expert forensic planning and claims defence services for stage 1 of the Townsville Southern Access Corridor upgrade.

TMR contracted Ranbury in November 2014 in response to detailed contractor delay claims.  The Department sought Ranbury’s expert forensic planning and claims defence capability, to assist TMR’s in-house contract managers and administrators.

With the highest traffic volumes, adjacent industry and a number of intersections requiring upgrades, the section of highway between Vantassel Street and Cluden Drive was deemed the highest priority of the project.

Our identification of analysis anomalies in the contractor’s programs provided a more accurate progress and forecast report, which enabled TMR to make an informed and fast response to delay issues.

We also provided opinion on delay quantum methodologies presented by the contractor as well as potential alternate views to assist in even-handed decision-making.

Overall, we were able to reduce the risk of conflict while maintaining the client’s rights under the contract.

We provided expert forensic planning analyses and claims defence services for stage one of the Townsville Southern Access Corridor upgrade.

As an experienced and independent team, we understood the needs of TMR in respect of obligations to fair and reasonable consideration of claims made under the construction contract.

TMR continued to engage us well into June 2015 in a shadow scheduling role to independently assess construction progress and to assist in mitigating further delays.
