Tony Mackenzie

Tony is an RPEQ civil engineer with over 30 years’ experience in civil construction. He brings well-rounded expertise to his role as Ranbury’s Cost Engineering Manager Qld, having held various cost engineering, project management and construction management roles throughout the course of his career.

Tony has performed the role of lead senior estimator on several significant projects which have included Independent Estimator and Delivery Advisor for the Major Roads Projects Victoria (MRPV) Suburban Roads program. In this role he was responsible for liaising and negotiating directly with the Tier 1, 2 and 3 contractors in the preparation of their Target Cost Estimates and construction schedules for this multibillion-dollar upgrade program.

Tony previously held various cost estimating roles including QLD Estimating Manager for Hazell Bros, Senior Estimator/Business Development for Gary Deane Constructions and  Bid Leader for Probuild (Civil).

Tony’s project management experience includes four years at Fulton Hogan as a Senior Project Manager, where he completed several complex projects including the Logan Motorway Upgrade and Pavement Rehabilitation, Warrego Highway – Helidon to Withcott Pavement Rehabilitation, South Burnett NDRRA works and the upgrade of Hope Island Road.

Tony also worked for Civdec Constructions for 18 years where he held various roles including SEQ Construction Manager and Project Manager. During this period, Tony was responsible for the delivery of many projects from local government, airports, shipping ports, private infrastructure and Qld DTMR contracts.

Tony has a thorough working knowledge of construction contracts including the TMR TIC-CO (RCC), AS2124 and the AS4000 suite. He has a proactive management style with a desire to minimise impact. Tony’s previous experience as the Contractor’s Representative in Head Contracts and as the Subcontract Superintendent’s Representative, enables him to bring hard dollar construction industry experience to projects. He also assists in the mentoring of our junior engineers with respect to construction methods, staging, resource types, plant selection and plant productivities.

Tony holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the Queensland University of Technology.
