Sunshine Coast Recreation Camp Redevelopment

ADDITIONAL CAPACITY & A FACELIFT FOR THE RECREATION CENTRE

The Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre is located between Currimundi Beach and the mouth of Currimundi Lake. The centre contains accommodation, facilities, meeting spaces and sports and dining facilities. The redevelopment aimed to increase school group visits (nationally and internationally) as well as maximising the use of accommodation for family, corporate, sporting, community and tourist groups.

Ranbury was Project Manager, commissioned by the Queensland Department of Housing & Public Works, and working on behalf of the Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing.

This project delivered an additional 168 beds, dining facility upgrades, and a new footbridge for improved beach access.

Ranbury, as Project Managers were engaged to manage the design process from initial design stages to completion of the construction documentation and then on through to the completion of construction.  Due to additional funding additional scope was included into the project, all of which was completed within a very tight timeframe to ensure the handover prior to Christmas and occupation early in the new year.

The redevelopment was officially opened in early February 2016 by the Queensland Treasurer.
