RANBURY DELIVERS NEW STATE PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR TOWNSVILLE

Ranbury was commissioned by the Department of Education and Training (DET) in 2016 as Project Manager to deliver this new Prep to Year 6 primary school located in Townsville’s growing northern beaches within Stockland’s master-planned residential development.  Our brief included the delivery of Stage 1 foundation facilities for the start of the 2018 school year (now completed) and Stage 2 facilities for the start of the 2020 school year (now completed) to meet predicted enrolment projections.  The project, briefed by DET as a flagship school, incorporated a number of design innovations to provide flexible and contemporary learning environments.

The project procurement methodology included a single (Stages 1 and 2) Design, Construction and Maintain (DCM) contract. The 10 year maintenance period commenced as at practical completion of the Stage 1 works. The project was a local collaboration in which the key delivery partners, Ranbury, Conrad Gargett, and CPB  Contractors, leveraged their respective North Queensland presences to achieve a successful outcome for DET and the North Shore community.

The Department of Education and Training (DET) appointed Ranbury to the role of Project Manager and Superintendent for the new North Shore State School in Townsville. With the wise counsel provided by Darryl Bruce coupled with the vigilance and eagerness displayed by Reagan Paine, Stage 1 was delivered on time, on budget and to very high standard of finish. From a risk management perspective and from a stakeholder management perspective, the Ranbury staff excelled. DET were delighted with the value-add Ranbury provided throughout the process.

The new Prep to Year 6 campus includes two sub-school structures, Prep to Year 3 and Year 4 to Year 6, located in separate yet linked learning precincts.  The facilities include clusters of multi-functional general learning areas (GLA’s), Administration, Library, Canteen, Uniform Shop, Great Hall, Amenities and Covered Play, Sports Oval and Courts, Grounds Keeping Facilities, and off-street car parking.

Ranbury’s role included Project Manager, Superintendent, Programmer and Quantity Surveyor (RLB is the QS sub-consultant to Ranbury).  Our involvement commenced at the development of the site master plan and continued through the project delivery lifecycle to completion of the defect liability periods for the respective project stages.

As Project Managers, Ranbury managed the delivery of these new facilities for the Department of Education and Training (DET) on time, on budget and to a finish standard that exceeded expectations.
