Childs Road Upgrade

Ranbury Provides Project Advisory Services for Road and New Bridge Duplication

Ranbury provided independent cost estimation, constructability, planning and scheduling, and risk advice to MRPV for the Child’s Road Upgrade.

The project scope includes:

  • adding an extra lane in each direction between Beaumont Crescent and Prince of Wales Avenue
  • upgrading the roundabout to traffic lights at Bowman Drive
  • building a new bridge over Darebin Creek and upgrade the existing bridge
  • adding a pedestrian operated traffic light to the crossing at the left turn from Dalton Road onto Childs Road
  • building new shared walking and cycling paths
  • installing safety barriers along the road.

The scope also included building a bridge across Darebin Creek and upgrading the existing bridge.  This required lifting 7 concrete beams into place.

This bridge is key to adding 2 extra lanes to Childs Road between Beaumont Crescent and Prince of Wales Avenue, reducing congestion for more than 25,000 vehicles which rely on this key arterial each day.

Ranbury’s construction expertise allowed us to develop our estimate with constructability in mind and ensured we challenged designs from the perspective of a contractor, including their obligations relating to WHS and traffic management.

The Childs Road Upgrade is on track for completion in 2023.

The Ranbury team developed accurate, market-related cost estimates to provide MRPV with an informed decision-making platform.

Ranbury’;s hands-on contract and management expertise allowed us to balance cost, time, and risk to add value to the project.
