GENERAL LEARNING AND MUSIC BUILDING COMPLETED AT BRIBIE ISLAND HIGH SCHOOL

Ranbury was initially appointed by the Department of Education and Training (DET) to develop a Schematic Design Project Plan and associated project recommendations to meet the future schooling demands for the region.

After Departmental approval, Ranbury subsequently managed the project delivery from design development and contract documentation, to tendering, practical and final completion. As the Department’s Project Manager the team also provided programming, quantity surveying and contract management (as Superintendent) services.

The overall project scope included:

  • Site preparation works;
  • Demolition and disposal of existing demountable building;
  • Provision of a new music and general learning centre;
  • Kitchen upgrade works to cater for home economics and hospitality classes; and
  • Associated site and infrastructure works.

Unique project challenges included the constrained nature of the site, and the need to take into account the placement of existing services. The school’s coastal location, resulting in high winds and inclement weather from the north and south also factored into design, planning and decision-making.

Works were completed in late 2019, with excited teachers and students moving into the facilities from term 1 2020. Proactive management and a collaborative approach has resulted in another school project delivered on specification, on time and on budget.

Delivered on specification and on time ready for classes to use ahead of term 1 2020.

We collaborated with the kitchen design consultant to source alternative suppliers and products to bring the kitchen under budget.

Delivered significantly under budget which allowed the school to incorporate air-conditioning installation under the existing contract budget
