Mackay Base Hospital Redevelopment

Ranbury won the Project Management and Programming role on the Mackay Base Hospital redevelopment.

The new Mackay Base Hospital has moved three steps closer, with allocation of first moneys, awarding of tenders and the appointment of a Project Team and Community Reference Group to spearhead the $405 million redevelopment.

The Government has signed off $44.6 million – the first year’s contribution to this important health facility – and announced the appointment of the Project Team and Community Reference Group as further important milestones in the Mackay Base Hospital project.

This new state-of-the-art hospital will increase the number of beds from 163 to 318 as well as providing more operating theatres, a special dedicated Coronary Care Unit and a larger Intensive Care Unit.

It will also provide new emergency and outpatients' departments, renal support services, day oncology and a dental services unit.

The first priority for the project team will be to review the master plan for the hospital. Once this has been completed the team will develop the project definition plan which details the scope of the building required to provide the necessary health services for the community.

The consultants will work closely with representatives from the health and tertiary education sectors, local and State Government, and local community members to translate the health service plan for the new hospital redevelopment into a reality.
